What training do police station reps need?
If you aren’t a solicitor, you need PSRAS accreditation (the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme). You work under a duty solicitor at a firm with a legal aid crime contract. You pass a written exam and start a portfolio of real attendances, then register as a probationary representative and sit the Critical Incidents Test. PSR Train helps you prepare; it doesn’t accredit you.
Is the Police Station Qualification the same thing?
No. The Police Station Qualification (PSQ) is for practising solicitors, not reps. It’s a portfolio of police station cases plus the Critical Incidents Test, with no written exam. A solicitor needs it (or PSRAS) to advise in custody under legal aid. Trainees mix the two up because both include the CIT.
